Position Summary

Our client in the Woodlands area has an immediate need for a Test Engineer.  This is a direct hire opportunity and an immediate need.  This position offers a competitive salary & excellent benefits package.

Responsibilities for Test Engineer

Ability to write (ATE) automatic-test-equipment programs in Visual-basic, C++, NI-LabView, and or PLC (Siemens, Datalogic, Allen Bradley etc.)
Write technical reports
Builds/designs, tests, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs electro-mechanical test-lab equipments such as test-system relay (timers and electrical), electro-pneumatic solenoids/valves etc.
Area of Responsibility
Completion of development engineering tasks as identified in Kongsberg Product Development processes (NPI & PIP).
Produce written work instruction, disseminate resulting data and write clear concise reports.
Personal Tasks
Work directly with personnel (technical and non-technical),for new products & new applications, including the definition of product test plans and follow up of test results.
Use of typical engineering testing tools, including NI Lab-View, Visual basis, C++, PLC programming techniques to perform DT, DV, PV testing
Lead techs in test methods and use of equipment to complete product validation testing.
Produce written work instruction, disseminate resulting data and write clear concise reports.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors.
Work in a team environment and have a proven track record in collaborating/interacting with engineering.
Create project-specific quality plans, test outlines and internal work instructions.
Execute all other reasonable duties as requested by the Engineering Test-Lab Manager.
Tasks as directed and be able to work unsupervised successfully accomplishing the task at hand.
DFMEAs or 8D problem solving
Design test rigs if needed to support new programs
Coordinates with outside test laboratories if required

Internally: Product engineering, Operations, Quality, Purchasing
Externally: Vendors

Qualifications for Test Engineer

BS Degree and or MS degree in engineering
Background in Automotive Engineering a plus
Electro-mechanical and control systems engineering experience
BS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Electro-mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with 2 or more years hands on experience in related engineering field
Experience with data acquisition, use of sensors, signal conditioning, AutoCAD
A solid working knowledge of NI Labview or Visual basics will be considered a plus
Knowledge of a lab test environment is essential with Solid working knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, test equipment and test setups.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Strong organisation and time management skills – ability to plan and work on multiple, on-going projects
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, at all levels
Team player with good people skills

To have a systematic approach to dealing with issues that challenge the desired procedures or performance of the department, while being mindful of the departments objectives and KPI’s
