Meet Charlie
Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — “The City of Brotherly Love” — Charlie has called San Antonio, Texas, home for the past 30 years. A retired Army Officer with 28 years of service, Charlie completed ROTC at Winston-Salem State University and has traveled the world, serving in Alaska, Korea, Kuwait, and Afghanistan.
He credits both his parents and his military career for instilling a deep sense of duty, responsibility, and work ethic — qualities that shine through in every assignment.
“My role with Burnett is to be a chameleon,” Charlie says. “I am willing and able to complete all tasks the Burnett Specialists team has placed before me. So far, so good. I have been a customer service representative, an information center, an usher, a security officer, and I’m ready for what’s next.”
What He Enjoys Most
Charlie enjoys the variety that comes with working through Burnett — from meeting new people to experiencing different venues.
“With the Burnett Specialists team, I am being introduced to different venues and people. It is fun and interesting. Being able to network and assist people as needed is a bonus.”
Proud Accomplishments
Working closely with his recruiters Roxy and Elpida, Charlie says one of his proudest accomplishments is knowing that his work is meaningful and that he’s making a difference.
“I am proud that I am still needed and able to assist the company. Working with Burnett is not boring. Meeting and learning from my colleagues, clients, and co-workers is delightful.”
What Drives Him
Charlie’s motivation is rooted in faith, teamwork, and integrity.
“First, I like to thank God in whatever I do. Placing my best foot forward was instilled in me at a young age. I understand teamwork makes the dream work. So, when others are relying on me, I do not want to let them down.”
Even when faced with challenges, he focuses on effort and accountability, making sure his team knows he’s giving his all.
Burnett’s Role in His Journey
Charlie credits Burnett for providing him with meaningful opportunities that allow him to serve others while continuing to grow professionally.
“Burnett has allowed me to be me. They gave me an opportunity to assist others and to earn some money while doing it. I don’t mind wearing a suit and tie every now and then — my dad would like that… may he Rest-In-Peace.”
Skills That Set Him Apart
Patience and understanding are at the core of Charlie’s success.
“I believe being patient and understanding that people are on different levels. Working with people where they are in life is a trait I inherited from my mother. She worked with people with disabilities.”
Beyond Work
When he’s not working, Charlie enjoys golfing, cooking, exercising, and spending quality time with family. He especially loves riding bikes with his grandkids and playing backgammon with his wife — activities that keep him grounded and connected to what matters most.
