(“Burnett”) is committed to ensuring that you receive the highest level of security, both through our website and internally within our company.  This Privacy Statement covers Burnett and its subsidiaries.  Burnett complies with privacy laws in Texas where we do business.

This policy discloses our privacy practices and expresses our commitment to keeping you informed on how we collect and how we use your personal information.  This policy applies to all personal information we handle in connection with our website and your employment.  This policy also sets forth our information gathering and dissemination practices for this site, related sites, and within our company.  Within this document, we inform you about:

  • Type of info we collect
  • How that information is collected

Burnett operates several websites including the website you have used to access this Privacy Policy. It is our policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating any of our websites.

As with most websites, we collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting non-personally-identifying information is to better understand how our visitors use the website. From time to time, we may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of our website.

AGGREGATED STATISTICS

We may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to our websites. For instance, we may monitor the most popular web pages visited or use spam screening technology to help us identify spam. We may display aggregated information publicly or provide it to others. However, we do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described herein.

USE AND PURPOSE OF COLLECTED PERSONAL DATA

As a career and employment services website, we collect personally-identifying information including, but not limited to, your name, address, phone numbers, schools attended, and companies worked to share information with others as part of the service. Due to the nature of employment-related services provided, most visitors to our websites choose to provide personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that we gather depend on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up as a job seeker to provide their name and contact information, such as email address, phone numbers, employment history, education, skills, and more for the purposes of creating a profile to display for hiring managers and recruiters.

Some of the ways we may use your personal data include, but are not limited to:

  • Screening and submitting resumes for filling client positions meeting contractual obligations
  • Complying with reporting obligations to the city, state, federal government or other agencies as required by law;
  • Submitting data to insurance carriers;
  • Conducting contests, sweepstakes, or other marketing and promotional activities posted on Burnett websites
  • Obtaining feedback from applicants, employees or clients
  • Collecting new-hire onboarding paperwork
  • Creating a candidate profile in our secure internal applicant tracking database

This site may contain links to other sites. Burnett is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of other websites outside of Burnett.

REGISTERING ONLINE OR APPLYING TO AN OPEN POSITION ONLINE

MAKING PERSONAL INFORMATION AVAILABLE FOR SEARCH

By applying to a position or registering online, you are choosing to publish a personal job-seeker profile.  Your resume or other content that contains personally-identifying information may be made searchable by and accessible to employers and recruiters.  Applying to a position or registering on the website does not give you instant access to a candidate login portal.  By “registering online” or “applying to a job” on the website, you will be creating a new job-seeker profile in Burnett’s internal applicant tracking system database.  Candidate login portals are uniquely provisioned once an employee of Burnett reviews your qualifications and information provided and determines to grant you access to a candidate profile within our internal database by initiating the onboarding process via email link.  We strive to restrict access to our website only to eligible employers and recruiters, but we cannot guarantee that other parties will not, without our consent, gain access to our services. Although you may request to deactivate your account at any time, any employers and recruiters that previously had access to the website may have copied your resume and personal information into their own files. Also, as part of our service, we link to other websites that are operated by other entities. If you submit your information or send your resume for a job opening to these websites, this may result in unsolicited messages from third parties. We advise you to review each websites’ privacy policy before revealing any sensitive or personal information. We are not responsible for the privacy, retention, or unintended use of your personal information by any third party.

DEACTIVATING job seeker profile OR status

If you want to stop using our employment services, you may do so at any time. When you voluntarily cease services with Burnett, your personal information previously provided to us by you will remain in our secure internal applicant tracking database, but your profile will be marked as “inactive;” it will not be permanently deleted. We save your profile information (personal information, contact details, connections, photos, preferences, etc.) in case you later decide to reactivate your job-seeker profile by engaging Burnett.  Changing your job-seeker status to “inactive” does not restrict our recruiters from contacting you periodically with potential job opportunities unless you specifically request “DO NOT CONTACT” to be added as a note to your candidate profile. Many users deactivate their job-seeker profile for temporary reasons and in so doing are asking us to maintain their information until they later return to the service. You will still have the ability to reactivate your job-seeker status and restore your profile in its entirety by contacting Burnett and requesting to regain access to your profile if you have previously been provisioned a user name and password.  If the access request is approved, you will receive a link via email to login.  Additionally, if you were an employee of Burnett, we are required to retain your information for a specified amount of time in compliance with state/federal regulations.  You can request to change your job-seeker status from “active” to “inactive” and/or have your candidate profile access revoked if previously provisioned by contacting Burnett directly by phone.

LIMITATIONS ON REMOVAL

Even after you request the removal of information from your internal database profile once you have been provisioned a login account by Burnett,  copies of that information may remain viewable elsewhere to the extent it has been shared with others, it was otherwise distributed pursuant to your privacy settings, or it was copied or stored by other users. If you have given third-party applications or websites access to your information, they may retain your information to the extent permitted under their terms of service or privacy policies.

DATA RETENTION

Burnett will not retain your personal data longer than is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected or as required by applicable laws or regulations.

SECURITY & INTEGRITY

We take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the loss, unauthorized access, misuse, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information. Your account is password-protected so that only you and those under your direction can access your account once you have been provisioned a user login. Although we continually strive to ensure reasonable protection of your personal information against possible security threats, no computer system or database can ever be fully protected against all risks, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will not bypass our security measures and use your personal information for improper purposes.

CONSENT

By using our website, you consent to the collection and use of the information as described herein. Burnett may, from time to time, modify this Privacy Policy to reflect legal, technological and other developments. We reserve the right to modify our Privacy Policy and this statement in accordance with applicable laws.  The most current version of this statement will always be available on this site, so check regularly for updates.

UPDATING INFORMATION

In the event that your information changes, please contact us so that we can make the necessary updates.  If you have not been provisioned a candidate account, you can also update your information by uploading your most recent resume in the “Register Online” section of the website and entering the last name and email address originally used to create your candidate profile in our internal database.
